The Voskresensky Pogost in Zharakh was located near the village of Shakhonino, and now this area with the church is part of the village of Shakhonino.

The stone church, dedicated to the Resurrection of Christ, was built between 1792 and 1813. In addition to the main altar, the church had chapels in honor of the Kazan Mother of God and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

The bell tower, refectory, square base, and altar part have been almost completely preserved. The first tier of the tall tented bell tower is decorated with rustication, and two rows of dry bricks run along the cornice. The inter-floor cornice of the square base is also decorated with two rows of dry bricks. The windows of the first floor of the square base and the apse are framed with moldings with triangular pediments. Fresco paintings have been preserved on the facade of the altar part of the church. Part of the iconostasis and frescoes have survived in the interior.

On the southern side of the church, there is an active cemetery. The fence and the western and eastern gates have partially survived. To the west, the church and the village are washed by the Vzdorishka stream with a steep bank. Until the early 20th century, only clergy lived in the Voskresensky Pogost.

Since the mid-19th century, a zemstvo primary school with a reading library operated near the church.
