Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Pokrov

Фото 1
The village of Pokrov, formerly known as Pokrovskoye on Lunka, stands out among other villages with its preserved architectural ensemble, which includes two churches and a separate bell tower.

The Resurrection Church, with chapels in honor of the Tikhvin Mother of God and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, was built by the parishioners in 1843.

Unlike the neighboring Pokrov Church, the Resurrection Church continues to function. Its northern and southern facades are adorned with porticos and classical window frames. Previously, the pediments of the porticos were decorated with frescoes. The church has an elongated shape, and the square part, refectory, and rectangular apse are almost equal in volume. During the Soviet period, the church building housed a cheese factory, and since 1970, a dormitory.

The stone fence that surrounded the church has not survived. On the eastern side of the church complex, there is an active cemetery.
