One of the oldest buildings in Pavlovo is the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, consecrated in 1778. Its history, like that of the city itself, is quite rich. Before the construction of the Resurrection Church, there stood an old wooden church on this site, which was sold for a small sum to the poor village of Glyatkovo in the Gorbatov district. Initially, this church was located on the territory of the Resurrection Monastery, but details about its creation have not survived.

By the early 20th century, the parish of the Resurrection Church numbered almost two hundred households, including 122 peasant households and 40 households of widows and soldiers' wives. The clergy consisted of two priests, a deacon, and a sexton. The church owned 30 desyatinas of arable land, granted by Ivan Borisovich Cherkassky, and had two attached chapels: one stone, located south of the church, and another wooden, situated some distance away. The church was considered wealthy, with its main iconostasis valued at 3000 rubles, and the side altars at 1000 rubles each, which was a significant amount for those times. However, in the 1920s, during the confiscation of church valuables, the church was plundered and closed, and the building was adapted for housing. The tent roof and upper tiers of the bell tower were dismantled, and the refectory and altar were demolished.

The fate of the last rector of the church, Alexei Fyodorovich Avdentov, was tragic. After the church was closed, he served in the cemetery church, but in November 1937, he was arrested on charges of counter-revolutionary activities. The trial was swift, and three weeks later, the NKVD troika sentenced him to execution, which was carried out ten days later. In 1989, the prosecutor's office of the Gorky region reviewed the case and rehabilitated the priest.

The restoration of the Resurrection Church began in the 1990s. The building was returned to the believers in a deplorable state, and it was necessary to recreate the altar apse, replace the buttresses of the bell tower, and repair the window openings and cornices. Later, a five-domed structure made of galvanized iron was installed on the church, and the missing refectory was built. The great consecration of the Resurrection Church took place in 2017, conducted by Bishop Varvara Baranov of Vyksa and Pavlovo.
