The Resurrection Church in the village of Ostrov was built of stone along with a bell tower in 1782. It is surrounded by a stone fence, inside which is the parish cemetery. The church has four altars: in the cold part, the Resurrection of Christ, Alexius, Metropolitan of Moscow, and the martyrs Adrian and Natalia; in the warm part, Saint Tikhon, the Miracle Worker of Amafunt.

The church has no permanent income. It is located 62 versts from Kostroma and 20 versts from Nerekhta.

The parish consists of a priest, a deacon, and a psalmist. The priest receives a state salary of 294 rubles, the deacon 147 rubles, and the psalmist 98 rubles. There are no other permanent incomes. The income from services and requests amounts to about 300 rubles for the priest, 200 rubles for the deacon, and 100 rubles for the psalmist. There are no church premises, and no housing is provided.

The parish has land: 3 dessiatines of homestead, 3 dessiatines of meadow, 29 dessiatines and 1980 fathoms of arable land, and 2 dessiatines and 996 fathoms of non-arable land. There is a plan for the land, but there is no land registry book.

The parish has 788 men and 873 women. It is an agricultural parish, with a side carpentry trade. In addition to the village, there are five other settlements in the parish, the most distant of which is one and a half versts away. There is a zemstvo school in the village.
