Archive documents from 1916 and 1919 indicate that the church was built by the efforts of parishioners in 1791. It was a stone building with a bell tower connected to it and an iron roof. The church had two altars: one in honor of the Renewal of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ, and the other in the name of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. The clergy had their own houses built at their expense. The church owned a guard room, a cell, and a firewood shed.

According to the staffing schedule, there were to be a priest and a psalmist serving at the church. From 1916 to 1919, the priest was Alexander Evlampievich Uspensky, and the psalmist and deacon was Ivan Petrovich Pisarev. The church elder was a peasant from the village of Kuzhendevo, Ivan Gavrilovich Kalenov. The parish included the village of Kuzhendevo with 215 households, where 627 men and 683 women lived. In 1935, the number of parishioners was 300 collective farmers. Archive documents from the KGB of the Gorky region mention Alexander Evlampievich Uspensky, a native of the village of Arapovo in the Bogorodsky district, who lived in the village of Kuzhendevo in 1930 and served as a priest. He was sentenced by a troika of the NKVD of the Gorky region to 10 years in corrective labor camps and was rehabilitated in 1991.

In 1935, the three-tiered bell tower was dismantled for the construction of the incomplete secondary school of Spasskoye, and the bells were confiscated and removed. The church was closed in 1941 by the decision of a general meeting of the residents of Kuzhendevo. As of August 8, 1945, the building was used as a warehouse and had not been repurposed.

Currently, services are held in the church, but it requires significant repairs both inside and out.
