In the 17th century, the Georgievskaya church was built in Nikolskaya sloboda, near the Rzhavets River. Later, a temple was constructed in honor of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God, which for a long time continued to be called Georgievskaya by the people. In 1797, the priest and parishioners of the Vladimir church requested to dismantle the old refectory and build a new, more spacious one with two chapels: in honor of the image of the Most Holy Theotokos of the Three Hands and the Great Martyr George. The request was granted, and after three and a half years, in 1800, the chapels were consecrated. A new iconostasis appeared in the church in 1856 thanks to the efforts of merchant M. Ya. Vasilkov, and in 1859 it was gilded by the church elder M. I. Avraamov at a cost of 4000 rubles. Among the particularly revered icons of the temple were the image of the Savior Almighty, copied in 1747 from the miraculous icon from the Spassky Gates of the Moscow Kremlin, and the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, brought from Tikhvin in the same year.

The bell tower, whose construction began simultaneously with the chapels, was completed by 1806 and had 8 bells. The largest, weighing 361 poods, was cast in 1863 with funds raised by parishioners, among whom the greatest contribution was made by Ivan and Pyotr Mikhailovich Vasilkov. The church elder, merchant Pyotr Stepanovich Korsunsky, paid for the installation of the new bell and the decoration of the church, spending 900 rubles. His sons Alexander, Pavel, and Ivan arranged an iron fence around the church, which cost five thousand rubles. In 1895, a church-parish school opened at the temple.

The church was closed by the decision of the presidium of the Moscow Regional Executive Committee on February 16, 1930. The initiator of the closure was Tulgosrabfak, which planned to use the building as a library and reading room. After significant renovations, only the foundation, basements, and part of the walls remained from the temple. In 1961, the former church housed 'Zagotzerno'. In 1991, the building was recognized as a monument of history and culture of regional significance and placed under state protection. Currently, it houses PAO 'Tulakhlebprodukt' and the management of the State Grain Inspection for the Tula region.
