The settlement of the area around the Lynda River began in the 1670s. According to Deacon P. Sesenikov, in 1680 a church dedicated to the Holy Virgin of Vladimir was built in the village of Krestovsky.

In 1738, the church became a two-altar church, and an altar was consecrated in the refectory in honor of Cosmas and Damian. From that time on, parishioners began to collect funds for the construction of a stone church, but due to the small size of the community, progress was slow. Therefore, the old building was renovated both a hundred years later and in the early 20th century.

The construction of a stone three-altar church made of red brick began in 1901. In 1905, the right altar in the refectory was consecrated in honor of Cosmas and Damian, and the following year, the left one, in the name of Seraphim of Sarov. However, the work dragged on for decades: by 1915, only the framework of the church complex stood, and the finishing of the cold part had not yet been completed. In 1923, a storm knocked down three of the four side domes. The church was not insured, as it was considered an unfinished construction project, and in 1927 it remained without domes. The church was not destroyed, as it was not listed among the active ones. During the Great Patriotic War, a 'thaw' began, and closed churches started to reopen. The Vladimir church also found new life and still remains one of the active churches in the Borsky district.
