The first mention of the wooden church of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem, located behind the trading rows, dates back to 1550. The Pisytsovye books of Mina Lykov from 1626 mention the temple: "The church Entry into Jerusalem is wooden, and in the church are icons, and books, and vestments, and bells, and all church structures worldly." The temple repeatedly suffered from fires that devastated Ryazan, and in the 1670s it completely burned down. A new stone church with a refectory was built by 1680 and consecrated by Metropolitan Joseph IV of Ryazan. Among the clergy of the temple is mentioned "priest Andrei," who participated in the election of Mikhail Fyodorovich Romanov to the throne in 1613. Three clergymen of the temple later became bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church: Archbishop Tikhon Donebin of Irkutsk, his brother Smaragd Troitsky, Bishop of Kovno, and Archbishop Theophan, who served in the temple as a hegumen and later was exiled with Archbishop Juvenaly Maslovsky. Protopriest Ioann Kosmich Dobrotvorsky, the rector of the temple in the early 20th century, was the spiritual father of the blessed Lyubov of Ryazan, a parishioner of the Entry into Jerusalem temple. The church is located on the former Jerusalem Street, now Zatinaya Street. Before the October Revolution, there was a chapel at the church, destroyed during the Soviet era, with a carved icon of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem above the entrance. Archbishop Juvenaly Maslovsky, who lived nearby, loved to hold night services in the church and called it "little Jerusalem." The last rector before the church was closed in 1936 was Hegumen Polychronius. In 1936, the church was closed, the building was handed over to a furniture production cooperative, and later used as a workshop and warehouse for the "Oka" firm. During the Soviet era, the church burned multiple times. In 1992, the church was returned to the faithful. On December 2 of the same year, Archbishop Simon Novikov of Ryazan and Kasimov consecrated the chapel of the church in honor of the Jerusalem icon of the Mother of God, which now bears the name of Archbishop Juvenaly. After the restoration of the main altar and other repair work on December 14, 1996, the day of the memory of the righteous Philaret the Merciful, Archbishop Simon consecrated the main altar of the church in honor of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem.
