In 1772, a village was founded, and two years later, in 1774, a chapel was built in honor of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos. It was after this chapel that the settlement received the name Blagoveshchenskaya Sloboda. In March 1781, priest Vasily Yakovlev began serving in the village. However, on July 24, 1788, the chapel was closed by order of the Orenburg Spiritual Administration, and its property was transferred to the Sretensky Church of the Bor Fortress. In 1796, the residents of the sloboda began constructing a stone church, completing it in 1821. From August 30 of the same year, priest Pyotr Smirnov served in the church, and the parish included the villages of Shirochenka, Bazhenovka, Pokrovka, and Perovka.

On July 26, 1860, Bishop Theophilus of Samara and Stavropol allowed priest Pavel Epiktetov to create a shrine for the icon of the Resurrection of Christ. In the same year, priest Vasily Umnov and church officials appealed to Bishop Theophilus for permission to repair the church and acquire a silver tabernacle.

On January 12, 1879, the village community decided to expand the stone parish church. The expansion project was developed by Samara diocesan architect Inostrantsev and approved on July 11, 1879, by the construction department of the Samara provincial government. Architect Inostrantsev supervised the construction work, and on January 28, 1885, a new altar was consecrated in the expanded chapel. In 1867, a church-parish school was opened in the village.

In 1930, priest Vasily Marakhovsky was arrested, and services ceased. The bells and roof were removed, and the church was used as a grain storage facility. In 1941, due to the lack of a roof, the church was no longer used. In 1948, by order of the chairman of the village council, Pyotr Fedorovich Kayukov, the floor was dismantled for the repair of the club.

On May 13, 1948, a commission of the Borsky District Executive Committee, which included technician I. I. Seleznev from the district agricultural department, chairman of the Gvardeysky village council P. F. Kayukov, and villagers P. Ya. Nikitin and P. F. Artemyev, chaired by executive committee member I. D. Kurbatov, drew up a report on the church's unsuitability. On May 14, 1948, the Borsky District Council of Workers' Deputies decided to appeal to the Kuibyshev Regional Executive Committee with a request for the demolition of the church building. On April 16, 1949, the authorized representative of the Council for the Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church under the Council of Ministers for the Kuibyshev Region, S. Alekseev, signed a conclusion on the necessity of demolishing the church building and using the bricks for the needs of the district schools, and the chairman of the Gvardeysky village council, Kayukov, who allowed the dismantling of the building, was proposed to be held legally accountable. By the decision of the regional executive committee on April 27, 1949, the church was removed from the register.

In September 2007, a decision was made to prepare documents, and on July 23, 2008, a parish was opened in honor of the Holy Martyrs Faith, Hope, Love, and their Mother Sophia.
