In the village of Vinyaevo, Ardatov district of Nizhny Novgorod province, as stated in the "Address Calendar of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese" for 1888, two stone single-altar churches were built: the Assumption Church, erected in 1813 in honor of the Assumption of the Mother of God, and the Ascension Church, built in 1833 in honor of the Ascension of the Lord, as well as a bell tower. In 1888, the church had 250 male and 299 female parishioners. The clergy of the Assumption Church consisted of one priest and one psalmist. The church served as the parish church for the residents of Vinyaevo.

The Ascension-Assumption Church was closed by the decision of the Gorky Regional Executive Committee on December 5, 1935. Due to the cessation of bell ringing, a resolution by the presidium of the Arzamas District Executive Committee and the bureau of the RK VPB/b/ on March 16, 1936, resulted in the removal of 7 bells from the church bell towers in Vinyaevo, with a total weight exceeding 193 poods. In 1937, the church building was used as a grain storage facility and barn. Currently, the Assumption Church is active, while the Ascension Church, which is not active, along with the Assumption Church, are monuments of history and culture of local significance.
