In the village of Umai, near the foundation of the old wooden church of the Savior Not Made by Hands, a new church building has been constructed. In the 1930s, the previous church was closed and repurposed into a club in the village of Poretskoye, which has not survived. When the church was closed, parishioners were able to take icons and some church items for safekeeping, hoping for the revival of the church in the future. That day has come. Thanks to the financial support of residents, as well as generous donations from entrepreneurs and businesses, a new church building was erected at the initiative of a group of local residents. Descendants of the former parishioners returned some icons to the new church, and some contributed significant funds. We hope that the new church will avoid the fate of the previous one. The church is now consecrated in the name of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
