On October 16, 2016, the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was consecrated in the city of Strunino, located on the former site of the Lukianov Desert. Its history is unusual.

In early 1989, at the request of the believers, the Strunino City Council of People's Deputies decided to allocate a plot of land on Sadovaya Street for the construction of the Assumption Church. However, this decision was never implemented. The believers then raised funds and in September 1991 purchased a house in the private sector on this street to establish a church within it. The house was renovated: an iconostasis was installed, an altar was arranged, and church utensils were acquired. At the end of the same year, the church was consecrated by Archbishop Evlogy of Vladimir and Suzdal.

On May 3, 1993, Bishop Evlogy issued a decree to create a dependency of the Holy Assumption Church with ten staff members at the site of the parish. For ten years, the parish was served by the clergy of the monastery of the Venerable Lukian, but in mid-2004, due to difficulties in the monastery, the dependency was transferred to the Holy Assumption Women's Monastery in the city of Alexandrov by the decree of Archbishop Evlogy.

In 2015, Archbishop Eustathius of Alexandrov and Yuriev-Polsky transformed the dependency into an archbishopric, and a year earlier, the construction of a new Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary began.
