Archival documents about the construction of the church in the village of Provolochnoe have not survived. However, local old-timers remember the former grandeur of the wooden temple, built in the late 18th century with the support of the mining industrialist Ivan Batyshev. The church was constructed near a metallurgical plant that produced wire. The villagers remember the name of the church and the name of the last rector, Priest Maximilian Znamensky, who was arrested in 1937. After his arrest, services ceased, and the church remained empty for a long time, gradually falling into disrepair. The building was in an emergency state, leaning significantly and could collapse at any moment. The villagers dreamed of restoring the church, but the local church community had no funds for major repairs. Therefore, only prayers were held here, while parishioners attended the Divine Liturgy at the Nikolsky church in the neighboring village of Vilya.

By the blessing of the ruling archbishop, repair work began on May 3, 2007. By the fall of 2008, the main work was completed. October 25, 2008, became a significant day in the modern history of the parish. The dean of the Vyksunsky district, Archimandrite Kirill Pokrovsky, along with the rector of the church, Archpriest Ioann Ivanchin, and the clergy of the Vyksunsky deanery, conducted the rite of minor consecration of the Assumption Church and the first Divine Liturgy in many decades.
