On July 12, 2008, on the feast day of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul, a solemn liturgy was held at the Holy Assumption Svyatogorsk Lavra in the Donetsk region of Ukraine, led by His Beatitude the Metropolitan of Kyiv and all Ukraine. On this day, the venerable fathers who labored in the Holy Mountains were canonized, including the venerable abbot John Strelets. From 1943 to 1949, he served as the rector of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Kryukovo in the Gus-Khrustalny district of the Vladimir region.
