The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built in the village of Krotovka in the 19th century and was located almost in the center of the village. In the 1920s, the church was demolished, and a residential building for several families was constructed in its place.

In the 1990s, a parish in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was re-registered in Krotovka. For a long time, services were held in a house converted into a church, next to which a small wooden bell tower was erected.

In 2008, the construction of a new stone church began on the historical site of the destroyed temple. For this, the residential building that stood on the site of the former church was vacated.

The new church was built with donations provided by the head of OAO "Zhigulevskoye Beer" Yuri Saprunov, over a period of 3 years and 3 months. Then, the interior painting and decoration of the church were completed. It accommodates 350 worshippers.

On August 28, 2012, Metropolitan Sergey of Samara and Syzran and Bishop Nikifor of Otradnoye and Pokhvistnevo consecrated the church and held the first divine liturgy there.

A memorial plaque is installed on the church, stating that Yuri Saprunov built the church in memory of his parents, Vasily Ivanovich and Antonina Ivanovna. On the left side of the church grounds, there is a chapel in their memory.

For his services to the Russian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Sergey of Samara and Syzran awarded Yuri Saprunov the Order of the Holy Seraphim of Sarov, 3rd class.
