According to local historian Alexander Bazaev, in 1606 Kologreevo was the estate of the Sviyazhsky resident S.I. Kologrivov. Later, the village was owned by the Lopatins, Kosheleves, Ivashovs, Glebovs, Trediakovskys, Sharygins, and Doktorovs. In 1861, the emancipation of the peasants was handled by Colonel Anastasia Rozalion-Soshalskaya, Collegiate Assessor Ivan Kondratievich Rybnnikov, and the Muratovs. According to the "Address Calendar of the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese" for 1904, there was a ministerial school and a stone church in the village. The main altar was dedicated to the Assumption of the Mother of God, while the side altars were dedicated to Saint John the Baptist and the Prophet Elijah.

On May 21, 2017, a significant event took place in the Ardatov Deanery, as the Assumption Church in Kologreevo reopened its doors to parishioners. More than a hundred local residents and villagers from neighboring areas gathered for the first Divine Liturgy. The festive service was conducted by Archpriest Alexey Vesnin, assistant to the dean of the Ardatov Deanery.

In 2015, a decision was made to restore the church using the remnants of the bell tower. His Grace Bishop Vykhunskiy and Pavlovskiy Varna blessed the rector of the neighboring village, Father Alexey Vesnin, to restore the Assumption Church. According to the priest, with God's help, the necessary materials and labor were found. Currently, the altar part is being built from bricks, and then plans are to construct two side altars: the right one dedicated to Saint John the Baptist and the left one to the Prophet Elijah. In just a year and a half, the church was fully restored. Alexey Vesnin congratulated the villagers on the opening of the church and presented letters of gratitude to the benefactors whose support made this event possible.
