The Church of the Icon of the Mother of God "Burning Bush" is located in the village of Knyazhukha, which is in the Sursky District of the Ulyanovsk Region. The village is only 15 kilometers from the Sura River, a tributary of the Volga. The first mentions of the settlement date back to the 17th century when these lands belonged to the landowner Odoevsky.

In the 17th century, the first church was built, consecrated in honor of the Assumption, and the village bore the same name for a long time. At the end of the 18th century, a new temple was erected. According to legend, in the summer of 1774, Pugachev's army passed through the settlement on its way from Altaray to Saransk. The local residents saved Princess Vera, the owner of the village, from retribution. In gratitude, she allocated funds for the construction of a new church, consecrated in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God "Burning Bush." After the princess's death, the village began to be called Knyazhukha, and this name gradually became established in official documents.

The church "Burning Bush," built in 1752, is included in the list of architectural monuments of the Sursky District of the Ulyanovsk Region.
