Edelево, a village located in the Buturlin district. According to the order of the Department of Historical and Cultural Heritage Protection of Nizhny Novgorod and the Nizhny Novgorod Region dated April 24, 2000, No. 5-OD, the rural Assumption Church, dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and having two altars, was recognized as an object of historical and cultural heritage. The church dates back to 1830. However, order No. 5-OD was revoked on October 20, 2014, by order No. 159, as reported by the Department of State Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

According to local historian Vladimir Bakunin, the village is now almost deserted, except for one farm that operates as a summer farm. The church is in a severely dilapidated state, and inscriptions from the time of the Great Patriotic War remain on its walls, dating back to the late 1930s and 1940s.
