Фото 1
Chernukha, an ancient village founded in the 16th century. Among its first inhabitants were Old Believers from the Kerzhensky forests, who found refuge here from the authorities' persecutions. In Chernukha, the Old Believers built a monastery in honor of the Three Hierarchs: Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, and John Chrysostom, as well as two churches, in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Martyr Paraskeva Friday. During Soviet times, only the church in honor of Martyr Paraskeva was preserved, where the antimins was transferred from the church of the Assumption. The feast day of Saint Martyr Paraskeva is still celebrated here alongside the church's patronal feast.
