The church was consecrated on August 18, 1899. From that time until 1937, its rector was Mikhail Antonovich Krylov, who also led the church parish school in the village of Blagoveshchenskoye Pesochnoye. In 1937, he was executed on charges of counter-revolutionary activities. From 1932 to 1937, the priest was Alexander Vasilyevich Pospelov, who was also shot in 1937 in Nizhny Novgorod. Later, Pospelov was canonized, and his memory is celebrated on November 13 in the Cathedral of New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia.

In 1935, the bells were removed from the church, the largest of which weighed 114 poods and 15 pounds. During the Soviet era, the bell tower was destroyed, and an extension was built in its place. The fence around the church was lost, and, except for the crucifixion scene in the altar area, the frescoes have not survived.

Currently, restoration work is being carried out in the church.
