Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Фото 1
The Assumption Church in Teterinskoye, built of stone in 1724, replaced an earlier wooden structure, the date of which is unknown. Its construction was made possible by the efforts of Archimandrite Lev, the abbot of the Pereslavl Goritsky Monastery, to which Teterinskoye was donated by the Osteev family. The bell tower, also made of stone, was built separately from the church in 1813. Inside the churchyard is the parish cemetery. The church has three altars: in the cold part, in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in the warm part, in the name of Saint Nicholas, and also in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which was established in 1805.

Among the locally venerated relics are the icon of the Savior and the icon of the Sorrowful Mother of God, before which prayers are often performed and candles are placed. The God-loving icon of the Mother of God is also honored, and in its honor, a procession to the chapel near the village is held annually on June 18 since 1831. The Vladimir icon of the Mother of God is located in a chapel situated 4 versts from the village, near the village of Pyatina, a quarter of a verst from Nerekhta.

The chapel was built in memory of the arrival and meeting of the miraculous Vladimir icon of the Mother of God, which was delivered to the Vladimir Church of Nerekhta in 1634, likely by the residents of Nerekhta, shortly after its arrival via the Volga and Solonitsa rivers, which flowed near Pyatina at that time. People often come to the chapel with the sick and infants to pray and pass through the opening in the icon case under the image of the miraculous icon.

The church capital amounts to 150 rubles. Candles and oil are sold in the Vladimir chapel, bringing in an income of about 40 rubles. The church owns 10 desyatins of land, leased for 35 rubles.

The parish consists of two priests, a deacon, and two psalmists. Only the priest and psalmists receive a state salary; the other members of the clergy do not. They have church land at their disposal: 2 desyatins 400 sazhen of homestead land, 19 desyatins 450 sazhen of arable land, and 20 desyatins 1200 sazhen of meadow land, leased for 100 rubles. There are plans for the land and a boundary book.

The parish counts 1439 men and 1608 women. It is an agricultural parish, and only a few parishioners work in factories in Nerekhta and Kostroma. The parish includes 17 settlements and two schools: a zemstvo school and a church-parish school.
