The history of the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Old Yegoshikha Cemetery begins with a wooden cemetery church dedicated to All Saints, built in the 1780s at the city cemetery. The emergence of this church and the cemetery itself is linked to the establishment of the Perm Governorate and the founding of the provincial city of Perm in 1781 on the site of the Yegoshikha copper smelting plant. The Yegoshikha Cemetery became the second burial place in the city after the graveyard near the wooden church of the holy apostles Peter and Paul, consecrated in 1726. In 1781, before the opening of the Perm Governorate, the Peter and Paul Church was renamed a cathedral, and the cemetery was moved to a hill between the Yegoshikha River and the Akulka Stream, later named Styx.

The first cemetery church at the Old Yegoshikha Cemetery was named in honor of All Saints. In 1873, a proposal came from Yekaterinburg to build a church for the burial of the deceased, and funds were raised for this purpose. In 1784, a decree was received from the Vyatka Spiritual Consistory for the construction of a new wooden church in honor of All Saints. Construction began in the spring of 1784, and the church was consecrated on December 10 of the same year. The church housed a city almshouse funded by the public welfare committee.

The cemetery bordered a ravine through which the Styx stream flowed, and the road to the church required constant repairs. The authorities understood the importance of this road, and in 1787 it was ordered to repair the road, and in 1798 a bridge was built over the Styx. The archive of the Peter and Paul Cathedral contained decrees related to church affairs in Perm, including permission to build a stone church in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary. In 1787, guardians and elders from among the townspeople and merchants were appointed for both churches.

The wooden church in honor of All Saints served the people of Perm for a long time, and many residents of the city were buried in the cemetery. In 1812, the church became the regimental church of the Shirvan Regiment. In 1823, a decision was made to build a new stone church to replace the dilapidated wooden one. The laying of the new temple took place in 1832, and the old church was reconsecrated in honor of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

In 1900, the construction of a new stone temple began, which was consecrated in 1905. In the 1930s, the church was closed and used as a warehouse. In 1989, the restoration of the temple began, and in 1990 it was handed over to the Russian Orthodox Church. Today, the building is used for its original purpose and belongs to the Perm region. The church is richly decorated with architectural elements and is an important part of the cultural heritage of the region.
