The Church of the Assumption of the Mother of God in the village of Kuznetsovo was founded in the 1630s by landowner Daniil Semyonovich Zmiev. He donated a bell weighing 3.5 poods to the newly built church, which has survived to this day, and also allocated 77 desyatins of forest and 16 desyatins 1986 square fathoms of arable land for the maintenance of the clergy. In the 17th-18th centuries, the church building was wooden.

In 1811, thanks to the efforts of the parishioners, a stone five-domed church with a stone bell tower was built on the site of the dilapidated wooden Assumption church. The church has two altars: the main one in honor of the Assumption of the Mother of God and a side altar in the name of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. The bell tower and the fence are also made of stone. Among the icons, the Jerusalem icon of the Mother of God is especially venerated, known for its miraculous properties. The metric books have been preserved since 1803, and the confession rolls since 1829; an inventory of church property was compiled in 1895 and is kept in the church.

The clergy staff includes a priest, a deacon, and a psalmist, who receive 995 rubles a year. The clergy members have their own houses on church land. The parish includes the village and the villages of Vikhorevo, Kudrino, Ivantsovo, Teplyakovo, Avdeyevo, Mikhalyevo, Novinki, Spasovo, and Berezniki, located no more than 6 versts from the church. The parish has 240 households, 960 men, and 1152 women. Since 1886, a church-parish school has been operating in the village.
