The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in the village of Nedvigovka is a unique architectural monument of the Rostov region. It was built in honor of the 300th anniversary of the House of Romanov and has survived to this day. After many years of Soviet anti-religious persecution, the church became active again and was included in the list of cultural heritage sites of regional significance.

The first Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Nedvigovka was erected in 1796. Its walls were made of stone, while the domes and bell tower were wooden. Over time, the church fell into disrepair, and in 1905 it was decided to build a new stone church. The likely author of the project was the famous Rostov architect Grigory Nikolaevich Vasilyev.

The church is an example of red brick architecture that was popular at the time. Its design combines elements of ancient Russian architecture and Art Nouveau, such as large semi-circular window openings in the refectory. The building has a cross-shaped form, and five onion-shaped domes with tented roofs are characterized by strict proportions. The bell tower is attached to the church building and is located at the western entrance.

The construction of the new church was timed to the 300th anniversary of the House of Romanov, but the main work was only completed in 1914. With the advent of Soviet power, the church faced persecution; in 1937 it was looted and closed. The church library and archive were destroyed, and Ioann Zagrasky was arrested and exiled. With the arrival of German troops, the church reopened and became the center of life in the village of Nedvigovka, many of whose Cossacks joined anti-Soviet formations. Before the return of Soviet power, some parishioners left with the retreating Germans and Cossacks, while those who remained faced persecution. Today, the church is active again, services are held there, and it impresses with its beauty.
