Zhemkovka was founded by Cossacks from under Karsun a year before the construction of the Syzran fortress. In 1759, in the village, thanks to the efforts of the parishioners and with the blessing of the Holy Synod and Archbishop Ambrose of Kazan and Sviyazhsk, a wooden church was built in the name of the Archangel Michael. The complex included a temple and a bell tower. The church was a single-altar and was part of the VI deanery district of the Syzran county of the Simbirsk diocese. According to the church records of 1857, the clergy consisted of priest Andrei Vasilyevich Sheremetev, deacon Nikanor Matveevich Tikhomirov, and sexton Nikolai Konstantinovich Lebedev.

Today, the building of the Archangel Church is in an emergency state, so it is closed and abandoned. At the site of the former Trinity Church, near the club, a Cross of Remembrance has been erected. A new church with an altar, consecrated in the name of the Life-Giving Trinity, has been opened in the house where the deacon lived before the revolution. After the restoration of the parish, priests Gennady Petrov, Alexey Bormotov, and Oleg Avdonin served in the church. Since 2008, the rector of the church has been priest Alexander Bilchuk.
