The church in the village of Volchikhin Maydan was built in 1849 through the efforts of local parishioners. This stone building included an altar, a space for worshippers, and a bell tower. The church had two altars: the main one dedicated to Archangel Michael, and a side altar in honor of the Holy Trinity. The village had 1,200 parishioners, and 40 children were educated in the local zemstvo school.

For fifty years, the rector of the church was Archpriest Alexey Spassky, who was awarded the Order of Saint Prince Vladimir for his service. His son, Priest Ioann, served at the Holy Trinity Church in the village of Isakovo in the Vasilievsky district. After Alexey, Archpriest Arseniy Gratsianov became the rector. The psalmists were Dorimedont Zvezdinsky and Pavel Skamnitsky, while the church elders were Vasily Fyodorovich Komarov and Vasily Ivanovich Ulitov.

The church was closed in the late 1930s.
