The Church of the Holy Trinity in Vasilieva Sloboda belonged to the Old Believers and was a wooden prayer house. It was built in 1883 on the site of a previous structure and later reconstructed. In the 1910s, the building had a cubic shape with one dome and a refectory. In the mid-20th century, the church was destroyed.

In Vasilieva Sloboda, there was also the Church of the Holy Trinity, which was a brick winter temple of the Resurrection parish. It was built in 1801 or, according to other sources, in 1804. This temple was also demolished in the mid-20th century.

The Chapel of the Protection of the Holy Virgin was erected in the first half of the 19th century on the site of the burned church of the former Protection Monastery and belonged to the Ascension Church. In the 1950s, the site where the chapel stood at the mouth of the Sanakhta River was flooded by the Gorky Reservoir.

Chkalovsk is the modern name of the former Vasilieva Sloboda. The first paragraph of the description of the history of Vasilieva Sloboda is a fabrication from V.A. Persidsky's book "Tale of the Vasilievskaya-Chkalovsk Land" (2004), repeated by V.P. Lukin in his work "Turning the Pages of Time" (2011) with reference to a publication by Archpriest I. Solovyov in the "Nizhny Novgorod Diocesan Gazette" dated 01.12.1904 No. 23. In I. Solovyov's publication, there is a mention of the assumption that the village of Vasilieva-Sloboda was founded by the princely Gородецкий prince Vasily Yuryevich Dolgoruky, son of Prince Yuri Dolgoruky. However, the historical community does not confirm the existence of such a prince, and the source of this assumption is not specified.
