Trinity Church in Tutayev

Фото 1
On the outskirts of the city stands the Trinity Church, built in 1783 on the site of an earlier wooden temple. This is a cemetery church, and around it, remnants of old chapels and gravestones from the 19th century have been preserved, sometimes with touching inscriptions. The church is slowly being restored and is therefore closed, but it is still possible to enter as the lock is broken. Inside, one can see traces of destruction that occurred during the Soviet years. On the walls, there are some decent frescoes that have survived in places, and in the floor, a pit from a crypt is visible. It is unknown who was buried in the church itself. Soviet guides mentioned this church with disdain, but it is precisely this church that is a key part of the panorama of Romanov when viewed from the side of Borisoglebsk.
