Not far from the Tolgsky Monastery, in the village of Tolgobol, admirers of Russian antiquity can see a beautiful temple ensemble, including the churches of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Holy Trinity. This ancient village in the Yaroslavl district is closely linked to the history of the Vvedensky Tolgsky Monastery, which owned many surrounding villages. In 1623, Tsar Mikhail Fyodorovich granted the monastery and the village of Tolgobol with its villages and wastelands. According to a 17th-century description, wooden churches of the Trinity and Nicholas stood on the site of the modern stone temples. The current churches, located on a picturesque elevation, were built by the efforts of parishioners on the site of the old wooden ones.

The summer Intercession church, with five domes, was erected in 1775 and significantly rebuilt in 1833 with the help of benefactors. Similar churches can be found in the Yaroslavl and Kostroma regions: this is a peculiar transition from baroque to classicism, although it is more of a mixture of features from both styles, simplified and topped with a traditional five-domed structure. The Trinity church, warm and small, represents a typical winter "church-cell" from 1755, characteristic of its time and region, repeating its predecessor. In 1896, a church-parish school was opened in the village, which became one of the best in the district and educated 146 people. In 1913, Emperor Nicholas II, who visited the Vvedensky Tolgsky Monastery, gifted an icon of the Mother of God Fyodorovskaya to the Trinity church, and the icon case with the dedicatory inscription still adorns the church's interior.

In the 1930s, the summer Intercession church was closed and desecrated, while the winter Trinity church, which was managed to be preserved, had its church valuables confiscated and was burdened with heavy taxes. In 1928, the ancient Tolgskaya icon of the Mother of God, a revered copy of the revealed relic, was brought to the Trinity church, which later became the first shrine of the reviving Tolgsky Monastery. At that time, the parish became a refuge for monks expelled from the Tolgsky Vvedensky Monastery. In modern history, the Church of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity has become the center of the Yaroslavl rural deanery, which includes 13 parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church. A Sunday school operates at the church, and efforts are being made to restore the former glory of the summer Intercession church. At the end of 2014, in honor of the 700th anniversary of the appearance of the Tolgskaya icon of the Mother of God, a new blessed bell weighing 750 kg was raised to the bell tower of the Tolgobol church, becoming the second bell after the one transported from the Tolgsky monastery by the last monks led by Father Mark.
