The history of this place begins in the early 17th century, when it was mentioned in the land books of the Vladikavkaz volost during the years 1627-1629 under the name "Pogost." According to legend, there stood a small wooden church and several houses for the clergy. Later, the village was renamed Spas-Zaborie. In 1814, a stone Spasskaya church with a bell tower was built with the funds of the parishioners. The church had three parishes: in the name of the Life-Giving Trinity, the Unmade Image of the Savior, and Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker. The parish owned 48 desyatins and 1200 square fathoms of church land. The parish included 25 settlements, 254 households, and had 1020 men and 1229 women living there.

The church was closed in 1937, and its property was looted. The priests were arrested and exiled to northern regions. Nearby the church was the family tomb of the Grigorovs, who donated money for the construction of the church. Alexander Alexandrovich Grigorov visited the village before his death, but the cemetery was already destroyed. The graves could only be guessed by the mounds among the trees and bushes. The wooden crosses had rotted, the iron fences had fallen and were overgrown with grass, and the stone slabs had sunk into the ground. Grigorov could not find any traces of his ancestors' graves. He died on October 8, 1989. Today, the Spassky church is in neglect. A few years ago, farmer Suchkov M.V. tried to restore the church, but after his death, the work ceased. However, there remains hope that one day the ringing of the bells will once again call the Orthodox faithful to service.
