Church of the Holy Trinity in Shershovo

Until the end of October 2005, 250 residents of the village of Shershovo in the Perevoz district were practically isolated from the outside world. The only landline phone in the village often failed to work, especially in critical moments, such as the need for an urgent call to a doctor.

For a long time, the residents of Shershovo sought a solution to the problem of poor communication. Eventually, they turned to the Nizhny Novgorod company "VimpelCom", a branch of the well-known firm "Beeline". The response was swift: company employees installed special equipment on the bell tower of the Church of the Holy Trinity, the highest point in Shershovo. And, to the joy of the villagers, mobile phones began to work.

Interestingly, services in this church have been held for over two centuries, starting from 1813. The church did not close even during the difficult Stalinist times for religion, as permission for its operation was obtained from Mikhail Kalinin. The rector of the church spent two months on foot traveling to Moscow to obtain this permission. Now many important issues can be resolved by the parish head of Shershovo, Father Vladimir, with the help of a mobile phone. It was with his blessing that the work to ensure mobile communication in the village was organized.
