The settlement, previously known as Serapion Desert, is located by an unnamed lake 12 versts from the city of Vyazniki and 118 versts from Vladimir. The history of the desert's founding is unknown, but a description from 1702 has been preserved. In the Yaroslavl district, there was the Trinity Serapion Desert with a wooden church in honor of the Life-Giving Trinity. The church had one dome covered with wooden shingles and a cross clad in white iron. There were porches on both sides, covered with boards. The bell tower stood on a post and had three bells. The monastery had 13 cells where Hieromonk Macarius, a cleric, a sacristan, a prosphora maker, and five elders lived. They did not receive state salaries and existed on donations. The enclosure of the desert measured 150 fathoms, but there were no stone or wooden fortifications, nor watchmen's gates, as there were no servants or peasants in the desert.

In 1764, the desert was abolished, and the church became a parish church. In 1829, a stone temple was built on the site of the wooden church, and in 1847, a wooden bell tower was erected. The temple has two altars: the main one in honor of the Life-Giving Trinity and a side altar in honor of the Korsun Icon of the Mother of God.

The church is well supplied with utensils, vestments, icons, and liturgical books. Special attention is drawn to the carved icon of the Korsun Mother of God in a silver-gilded vestment with pearls, revered as miraculous, and the Life-Giving Cross carved in stone, as well as the carved images of the head of John the Baptist and Nicholas the Wonderworker of Mozhaisk.

The clergy consists of a priest and a psalmist. Their maintenance is ensured by a salary of 400 rubles from the treasury and income from services and sacramental rites, amounting to up to 500 rubles per year. The clergy's houses are located on church land. The parish includes the villages of Kruglits, Porzomki, and Kobyakova, located within 6 versts from the church, with a population of 344 men and 375 women according to clerical records. In the village of Porzomka, there is a zemstvo public school.
