Trinity Church in Selyakino

Фото 1
The renaming of the settlement is likely connected to the opening of the church here in 1837. From that time, the locality began to be referred to as a village, and perhaps its name changed then as well.

According to tradition, the construction of the church took ten years and was funded by local residents. Building materials, such as bricks and lime, were made on-site. Next to the church, across the ravine, traces of the brick factory that was located here can still be seen. The church was called Pokrovskaya, as indicated in the church journal found among the documents during the church's closure by the authorities of the Chernukhinsky district. The parish included not only the village of Selyakino but also the villages of Volchikha and Belozerye, while the village of Balakhonikha belonged to the parish of the church in the village of Pyatnitsy.
