On the site of the current Trinity Church, there once stood a wooden church dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, which, according to legend, existed even during the time of the Tatar-Mongol invasion. In memory of it, the Trinity Church of Norsky Posad was often referred to as Nikolskaya. The stone church in honor of the Life-Giving Trinity was built in 1745 with the funds of parishioners and with the active participation of Ivan Afanasyev Asarov. The church's refectory housed two chapels: one dedicated to the Vladimir Mother of God and a warm chapel of the Prophet Elijah.

In 1840, the church underwent a major reconstruction, and in 1896 it was significantly expanded and made fully warm. Nikolai Konstantinovich Prokhorov, the owner of the Norsky manufactory, invested 17,000 rubles in the installation of heating. After the reconstruction, the Elijah chapel was consecrated in the name of the Prophet Elijah and St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The icon of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was particularly venerated. Previously, a wooden church of the Assumption of the Mother of God in the village of Antsiferovo, built in 1800, was affiliated with the church.

The Trinity Church also had a chapel at the manufactory. On Sundays and church holidays, its bell ringing could be heard far around, attracting people from nearby villages. Outstanding priests served in the church, including Alexander Ivanovich Smirnov and his son Dmitry Alexandrovich. Father Dmitry was canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church in 2002, as he was arrested four times during the Soviet era and died in prison in 1940.

In the 1930s, the church was closed, and its premises were used as a factory. The church was decapitated, frescoes were painted over, and desolation reigned around. In 1995, the Trinity Church, stripped of its domes and crosses, with a ruined bell tower, was handed over to the Russian Orthodox Church. On August 28, priest Mikhail Mikhailovich Peregudov held the first service there. Over the years, the church has transformed: crosses were installed on the new five-domed structure, the bell tower was restored, and the bells were cast at the factory of Nikolai Shuvalov. In 2005-2006, restoration of the preserved frescoes on the vaults of the square and the restoration of the Nikolsky chapel in the northern part of the refectory were completed.

A chapel was established at the church in the late 20th century on Uritsky Street.
