The history of the construction of the Church of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity is closely linked to the grandfather of the Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus, Sergius Stragorodsky. In 1828, Priest Ioann Stragorodsky, the patriarch's grandfather, was appointed the rector of the church in the village of Sobakino in the Arzamas district. During his service, in 1833, thanks to his efforts and care, a stone church was built and consecrated in the village in the popular classical style of that time. In the same year, Priest Ioann was confirmed in the position of dean. He served in Sobakino until November 12, 1851. In this village, on October 13, 1843, Ioann Stragorodsky and his wife Pelageya Vasilyevna had a son, who was named Nikolai at baptism. Nikolai, the future Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus Sergius, was baptized in the Trinity Church.
