The Holy Trinity Church is an important historical site in the village of Konchezero. The historical part of this village has preserved the atmosphere and scale of an ancient factory settlement. In the center of the village are stone factory buildings that were constructed in the 18th century in the classical style of industrial architecture.
Next to these buildings, by the road, stands a factory chapel-pavilion built in the second half of the 19th century. It occupies one of the best locations with a view of Lake Konchezero. The chapel is a wooden octagon on a stone base, topped with a low dome. This small temple is executed in an eclectic style, combining elements of classicism and Gothic. In the 1930s, the interior of the chapel was completely destroyed, the cross was broken, and the windows were boarded up. Now, few perceive this structure as a cult site.
Not far from the factory buildings is the Trinity Church, built in 1865-1866 by the mining department for factory workers. Its construction was financed by the state with the participation of private donors and was carried out according to the design of an architect who created the London court chapel. The church was distinguished by its unusual architecture and artistic icons. It housed vestments from the Marzialnovodsk church, sewn by Catherine I, as well as more than 10 icons painted by Ilya Repin and other itinerant artists. These icons were essentially paintings of high craftsmanship. The Central State Archive of Karelia preserves drawings and information about the church's construction. Archpriest Alexander Nadezhin wrote that the consecration of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity Church on September 2, 1866, was held solemnly, the iconostasis was beautifully decorated, and the church could have adorned a city.
Today, the church looks different. The residents of Konchezero remember that during the Soviet era, the building was used as a warehouse. In the 1980s, the warehouse was closed, and the building began to deteriorate. Despite its recognition as a historical and architectural value, it was difficult to stop the destruction due to a lack of funds.
The situation changed with the establishment of the Holy Trinity Church parish, and the building was once again used for its intended purpose. The parish initiated work to protect the roof from leaks and began seeking funds for restoration. The first stage includes the development of a restoration project costing 1.2 million rubles. In 2007, a Board of Trustees for the church was created, which included Archbishop Manuel of Petrozavodsk and Karelia and the head of the Kondopoga district, V.P. Bessonov. 600,000 rubles were allocated from the municipal budget for project work. The head of the Republic of Karelia, S.L. Katanandov, decided to co-finance the work, allocating 300,000 rubles from the republican budget. Part of the project work will be funded through charitable donations. The project is commissioned by the Administration of the Kondopoga district, and the developer chosen is OJSC 'Lad.'
