Kargino, a village in the Sokolsky district. According to state lists of historical and cultural monuments of the Nizhny Novgorod region, there is a monument of urban planning and architecture, the Trinity Church. This stone building with a bell tower was built in 1828 with funds from parishioners. The fence around the church is also made of stone. The cemetery is located 150 fathoms from the church and is surrounded by a wooden fence; there is a wooden chapel on its territory. The church has three altars dedicated to the Holy Trinity, Saint Tikhon of Amathus, and the Venerable Zosima and Savvatiy of Solovki. It is 160 versts to Kostroma and 90 versts to Makaryev.
