The Omutets-Peasant parish, located in Gatikh, is 29 versts from Vladimir. A church has existed here since the early 17th century, as noted in the patriarchal revenue books of 1628: "the church of Nicholas the Wonderworker on the Pesya River in the village of Omutets." In 1673, part of the parish separated, and a separate church was built in the village of Kovalevo. According to the census books of 1703, there were seven priests serving at the Nicholas church in the village of Omutets: Fyodor, Simeon, Boris, Yakov, Terenty, Maxim, and Yakov. The church had 24 quarters of arable land and hay meadows for 30 kopecks, as well as 359 parish households. In 1710, the priests were Maxim Kirilov, Vasily Fedorov, Simeon Eftikhiev, his son-in-law Fyodor Dmitriev, Yakov Ivanov, Yakov Kirilov, Terenty Kirilov, Boris Vasilyev, and deacon Afanasy Borisov. In the early 18th century, in Omutets, besides the Nicholas church, there was also a warm wooden church in honor of the Holy Trinity.

In 1719, both churches burned down. In 1720, the warm Trinity church was rebuilt, while the cold church was erected and consecrated only in 1738. In 1763, the cold church burned down again, and a new wooden church with an altar in honor of Nicholas the Wonderworker was built in the same year. In 1836, it was renovated at the expense of the parishioners, but by the 1860s it had fallen into disrepair, and services ceased.

In 1875, when a new cemetery was allocated in the Omutets parish, the Nicholas church was moved there and consecrated in 1877 in honor of the Entry into the Temple of the Most Holy Theotokos. The warm wooden Trinity church existed until the end of the 18th century and fell into disrepair. In 1790, with the permission of Bishop Viktor of Vladimir, the construction of a stone church began, completed and consecrated in 1802. In 1842, a stone bell tower was added to the church.

However, for the large parish, this stone church turned out to be cramped and gloomy, so in 1850, the construction of a new spacious stone temple began, combining the warm and cold churches. In 1868, it was finally finished. The church has three altars: in the cold church, in honor of the Most Holy Theotokos, consecrated in 1868; in the warm refectory, in honor of the Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, consecrated in 1854, and Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker, consecrated in 1855.

Among the holy icons in the parish, the icons of the Mother of God of Smolensk and Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker are especially venerated. The church owns buildings: a two-story house of the church-parish school, wooden trading shops, and a house rented out as an inn. The shops bring in an income of up to 100 rubles a year, of which 25 rubles go to the benefit of the clergy. In 1890, 190 rubles were received from the inn, of which 63 rubles went to the clergy, 63 rubles to the church, and 64 rubles to the church-parish school.

Church documents are kept intact: copies of the metric books since 1802, confession lists since 1830. The land belonging to the church includes: 3 dessiatines of homestead land, 25 dessiatines of arable land, and 15 dessiatines of hay meadows, 6 dessiatines of wasteland. According to the clergy's statute, there are to be: 2 priests, a deacon, and 2 psalmists. The clergy receives support from the interest on a capital of 2400 rubles, invested by various individuals for eternal remembrance, as well as income from services, needs, bread collection, and land, totaling about 2000 rubles a year. The clergy have their own houses on church land.

The parish includes the villages: Gatikh, Gavriltsova, Pakhireva, Pozharnitsy, Elakova, Synkova, Khokhlova, Cheshkova, Papulova, Andreyeva, Kurova, Yuryatina, Kursheneva, Gorodok, and Bliznin, where according to the clerical records, there are 1680 men and 1790 women. The parish has a church-parish school, opened in 1885, and a zemstvo school, opened in 1878.
