Holy Trinity Church in Yelkhovka

Фото 1
The village of Yelkhovka has always been a significant trading center, home to two churches. In 1807, a stone church dedicated to the Protection of the Holy Virgin was built here, designed for 300 parishioners, but it is now almost in ruins. In 1903, the Holy Trinity Church was erected, capable of accommodating up to 1000 people, designed by the famous Samara architect A.A. Shcherbachev. After 1917, both churches were closed, and the building of the Holy Trinity Church was repurposed into a club, leading to significant damage due to renovations. In 1991, the church was returned to the faithful, and its gradual restoration began: an iconostasis was installed, and extensive restoration work was carried out in accordance with Shcherbachev's design. In August 2007, a dome was placed on the church, after which the temple was consecrated and regular services resumed.
