The village of Barskoye Gorodishche is located 27 versts from Vladimir and 8 versts from Suzdal, on the banks of the Nerl River. The name "Barskoye" is connected to the fact that the village has long belonged to landowners. In the early 18th century, its owner was landowner Stefanov, who in 1719 gifted the local church an icon of the Sign of the Mother of God, made after the miraculous Novgorod icon and adorned with pearls and precious stones. In the mid-19th century, the village belonged to Prince P.A. Dolgorukov.

The church in Barskoye Gorodishche, consecrated in honor of the Holy Life-Giving Trinity, was built in 1792 by the efforts of the parishioners on the site of an old wooden church. It is made of stone, with a bell tower, and has a warm chapel in honor of the icon of the Sign of the Mother of God. Among the icons, the ancient icon of the Fedorovskaya Mother of God is especially revered.

Church documents have been preserved in full: copies of the metric books since 1802, confession lists since 1865, and an inventory of church property compiled in 1865 are kept in the church. According to the staff, the church has a priest and a psalmist. The land associated with the church includes 1800 square fathoms of homestead, 31 desyatinas 2241 square fathoms of arable land, and 3 desyatinas of haymaking land. The homestead land is indicated in the general peasant plan, while the arable and haymaking lands have a plan and boundary book, which are kept in the church.

The annual income of the clergy from land and church services is about 400 rubles. The clergy's houses are located on church land. The village has 111 households, 406 men, and 454 women. Since 1864, a zemstvo public school has been operating in the village.
