The architect of this church is Mikhail Petrovich Korinfskiy. The bell tower retains a spire, and the interior features remnants of an iconostasis made in the classical style typical of the time the church was built.
Currently, it houses the Nikolsky skete of the Serafimo-Diveevo Monastery.
Modern researchers of Mikhail Petrovich Korinfskiy's work believe that he created the design for the church in Avtodeevo, being a renowned master of Russian architecture.
The construction of the Trinity Church coincided with the period when the village was owned by the Rakhmanovs. It is known that they freed the peasants in 1861. In 1890, Avtodeevo had 128 houses, where 343 men and 352 women lived.
Avtodeevo was known for its arable land, hayfields, forests, and beekeeping. There was also a brick factory here. It is assumed that a graceful utility building with extraordinarily strong masonry is located on the site of the Rakhmanovs' estate.
The Avtodeevo church in honor of the Life-Giving Trinity, with a warm Nikolsky chapel, was built from local bricks. In the early 20th century, the parish included the village of Avtodeevo and the villages of Teryaevka, Klopoka, and Mikhailovka.
The church was closed in 1936, and during the Soviet era, its building was used as a collective farm mill and grain storage.
The site is included in the directory "Monuments of History and Culture of the Nizhny Novgorod Region," published in 1980 under the editorship of Professor V. P. Fadeev. The authors of the section "Architectural Monuments" S. L. Agafonov and Yu. G. Samoylov describe the Trinity Church as follows:
"The main structure is a cubic volume with a drum, round windows, and a dome. The altar is semicircular. To the west is a low refectory and a three-tiered bell tower. The six-column porticos, attached to the southern and northern sides, have corner columns pushed together. The quadrangular bell tower has porticos on the first tier and elongated arched openings in the ringing tier. Such a structure is characteristic of other churches in the Ardatov district built in the same years.
The bell tower of the Trinity Church in Avtodeevo retains a spire, and the interior has remnants of an iconostasis of classical composition from the time of construction. Architects of the 1820s, following the spirit of classicism, used the simplest geometric forms and minimal plastic means. Only a few modest details adorned the smooth walls of structures from that time."
In 1994, the restoration of the church began, and the former parish church reopened, but now as the Holy Nikolsky skete of the Holy Trinity Serafimo-Diveevo Monastery.
