In 2006, the revival of the Holy Sign Monastic Community took place in Kovrov, marking the return of the women's monastery. This became possible due to the transfer of the Orthodox Church of the Trinity, which was built in 1918 by the previous monastic community. After nationalization, the church was used for various economic needs, including functioning as a heating point and boiler house.

The history of the Holy Sign Monastic Community begins with a miraculous event that saved the lives of the people of Kovrov. In 1771, when the plague epidemic reached the village of Kovrov, the disease claimed many lives. People filled the churches in prayer. At this time, a miraculous icon of the Mother of God "The Sign" appeared by the chapel in the pine forest outside the village, and a spring of healing water gushed forth at its foot.

The icon was placed in the Church of the Nativity of Christ, where it was deeply venerated. In memory of the miracle, annual processions were held, and people received help and protection from the Mother of God. A women's monastery was founded at the site of the icon's appearance, named in her honor. The monastery was officially registered as the Holy Sign Monastic Community in 1899 and existed until 1918. In 1904, a school for girls opened within the community. The community built cell buildings, churches, developed a farm, and was renowned for its dairy products. It also constructed an underground aqueduct in an oak box, from which water still flows into the basements of the 2nd City Hospital. The main achievement of the community was the Trinity Church, laid on July 21, 1913, and ready for worship by 1917, although services never began there. In 1920, the community was closed, and its buildings were transferred to the Kovrov Machine Gun Factory.
