Church of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God in Veliky

Фото 1
The church was built in the 18th century. In 1853, an epidemic of cholera began in Veliky. The residents blamed the Old Believers for its emergence, which led to the church being closed and its dome removed. After the epidemic ended, on June 28, 1856, a celebration was established in honor of the Tikhvin Mother of God, and since then the church has been called Tikhvin.

It is located in the northwestern part of Veliky, in an area known as the large Tikhvin settlement, now 1st Krasnaya Street. To the west of the church is a large wasteland and an Old Believer cemetery.
