The church is beautifully situated on a high bank of the Sera River, in the center of an ancient village known since the 15th century. Originally, it was a palace village, but from the late 17th century, it changed several owners, including F. P. Saltykov and Prince I. F. Romodanovsky. From the mid-18th century, the village belonged to the landowners Shubins, and with their funds, the current church was built in place of a wooden one between 1806 and 1808. The brick walls are plastered and painted. The upper tiers of the bell tower are destroyed, and the porticoes of the temple, as well as the ceiling of the refectory, are partially lost. This is a good example of a rural church of the rotunda type on a square base in the style of mature classicism.

On the high square base, a slender light rotunda of smaller diameter is installed. The square connects with the semicircle of the lowered and narrowed apse through smoothly concave sections of the walls; to the west, a lower but expanded refectory adjoins. The lower tier of the bell tower connects with the refectory through an intermediate vestibule. The southern and northern facades of the square, where the side entrances are located, are decorated with four-column Tuscan porticoes. The upper part of the walls of the square above the pediments is covered with frequent rustication. The decoration of the refectory, apse, and rotunda includes pilasters arranged in a measured rhythm in the intercolumniations and at the corners, supporting a wide smooth frieze of the entablature; the capitals of the pilasters are adorned with rosettes. The pilasters and frieze create divisions on the facades reminiscent of large rectangular panels. In the lower volumes of the church, the panels feature applied arches with keystones and sections of imposts, with rectangular openings. In the niches of the rotunda, there are arched windows with keystones and window panels. The facades of the first tier of the bell tower are additionally decorated with pilasters at the corners.

The main space of the church is connected by an arch to the altar part and united by an arched opening with the refectory. The drum of the rotunda rests on sails and supporting arches thrown between paired pylons that reinforce the corners. The apse is covered with a conch. Access to the bell tower is via a spiral staircase from the passage between the bell tower and the refectory. The church has preserved oil paintings from the late 19th century. The dome depicts the New Testament Trinity surrounded by cherubim, and in the intercolumniations of the drum, figures of saints in full height in narrow grisaille frames. Under the stucco cornice separating the drum from the square, among the grisaille ornamentation in the sails, the evangelists are depicted. On the western wall of the square, there are gospel scenes. The window and door openings are decorated with stucco frames.
