The Tikhvin-Bogoroditsky Women's Monastery is one of the architectural gems of the city of Kirsanov in the Tambov region. It was founded by the Venerable Martha and was once considered one of the best women's monasteries in the Tambov diocese.

The monastery's cathedral was built in 1825-1826. The history of this religious site began in the first quarter of the 19th century when a small group of girls aspiring to monastic life built a house near the future cathedral. In 1823, the community was granted a plot of land outside the city, and by 1825-1826, the construction of a separate church was completed. Subsequently, the cathedral underwent several reconstructions. A church parish school operated at the monastery, and a hospital wing and orphanage were opened, as well as free meals for those in need.

Changes in the political situation in the country led to the closure of the cathedral in the early 1930s. In April 2009, it was returned to the Tambov diocese. Of all the monastery buildings, only a few residential blocks and the Tikhvin Church have survived. Currently, a reconstruction project for the cathedral has been developed, and donations are being collected for the restoration of this shrine.
