Church of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God in Ilyino-Zaborskoe

Фото 1
The Tikhvin Church in the village of Ilyinskoe-Zaborskoe got its name from a wooden temple that burned down on June 7, 1905. The current stone building, along with the bell tower, was erected in 1802 through the efforts of the parishioners. The church is surrounded by a stone fence, and inside there is a cemetery. The temple has one altar and is dedicated to the conception of Saint John the Baptist. The church houses a locally venerated relic, the ancient Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, which, according to tradition, was painted by the royal iconographer Korniliy Ulanov, who also created the miraculous Krivoezerskaya Jerusalem Icon of the Mother of God. Only the bell tower remains from the previous church.
