The village of Churilovo is located 12 versts from the city of Vladimir. In the early 17th century, it belonged to the Patriarchal Nikolayevsky Volosovo Monastery, and after the abolition of the monastery's estates, it came under the jurisdiction of state property. Already in the early 17th century, there was a church in honor of the prophet Elijah, as confirmed by the patriarchal revenue books of 1628, which state that "the church of the prophet Elijah in the patriarchal estate of the Volosovo Monastery in the village of Churilovo pays 19 altyns in tribute." From 1631 to 1656, the church was not mentioned in the revenue books for unknown reasons. It is possible that it was abandoned or that the tribute was transferred to the Volosovo Monastery.

In 1679, the division of church and peasant land in the village of Churilovo was carried out: the clergy were allocated 6 desyatinas in three fields and boundary markers were established. In 1720, by the order of the patriarch, it was commanded to dismantle the dilapidated church in the village of Churilovo and build a new one in its place, also in honor of the prophet Elijah.

This wooden church likely existed until the construction of the stone one in 1817. The refectory of this church was expanded in 1872. There is a stone bell tower next to the church, built simultaneously with it; the cross on the church is four-pointed, with a crescent below. The church has three altars: in the cold part in honor of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, in the warm part, in honor of the prophet Elijah and the Mother of God "Joy of All Who Sorrow."

Church documents have been preserved: copies of the metric books since 1790 and confession lists since 1828. The church was bequeathed a capital of 150 rubles, the interest from which it uses. There is church land: about 1 desyatina of homestead land, 26 desyatinas of arable land, 3 desyatinas of haymaking land, and 4 desyatinas of unusable land. There is no special plan for the land.

According to the clergy's staff, there are: a priest, a deacon, and a psalmist. The clergy's maintenance comes from demands, bread collection, interest from capital and land, about 750 rubles a year. The clergy live in their own houses on church land. The parish includes the village of Churilovo, the village of Volosovo, 8 villages, and the hamlet of Lukhonets. The parish has 870 men and 894 women. Since 1887, a church-parish school has been operating in the deacon's house in Churilovo.
