The stone church of St. Tikhon of Amathus in the village of Skorodum, which was previously part of the Balakhna district and is now in the Gorodets district, was built in 1868 thanks to the efforts of the parishioners. The church had two altars: the main one in honor of St. Tikhon of Amathus and a side altar in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh. Initially, in 1868, the side altar in the warm refectory was consecrated, and the main altar was consecrated on September 22, 1874.

Today, the bell tower, the domes of the church, the floors, and the covering of the refectory, as well as the stone fence, have been lost. The plaster on the walls has only partially survived, and most of the interior frescoes have disappeared. When creating two levels in the church part, wooden beams of the ceiling were installed, resting on the outer walls, which led to damage to the wall paintings. The window and door openings remain unfilled. The church is not functioning and is in an emergency state.

The church dedicated to St. Tikhon of Amathus is located on the territory of the village cemetery. It has a symmetrical axial structure: along a single longitudinal axis from west to east are the refectory, the church part, and the five-sided altar apse. The completion of the church in the form of five bulbous domes has been lost. To the west, the bell tower previously adjoined the refectory, as evidenced by the remaining fragments of its walls. The bell tower was three-tiered, of the type eight on four, with a tent and a small bulbous dome. The walls and vaults are made of red facing brick. The facades are partially plastered, and the details are formed by projections and recesses of the brickwork. The window openings have an arched finish, and some windows have preserved wrought iron grilles.

Currently, the building is in a ruined state: the roof over the church and altar is severely damaged, and the roof of the refectory has collapsed. The church is of interest as an example of a stone rural church from the second half of the 19th century, which combines elements of late classicism and eclecticism in a provincial interpretation.
