Church of Saint Righteous Anna in Kovrov

Фото 1
The church was founded in memory of Anna, a resident of Kovrov. Initially, her widowed husband, Khokhlov S.I., planned to build a chapel, but it was later decided to construct a church.

In January 2010, the construction received episcopal blessing. The city administration allocated a plot for it in a park at the intersection of Oleg Koshchevoy and Griboedov streets, where there was previously no church. Pastoral leadership was entrusted to Priest Mikhail Buntilov. Funds for the construction were raised exclusively through voluntary donations.

The project of the church was developed by diocesan architect Alexander Nikolaevich Trofimov.

On November 12, 2011, the consecration of the cornerstone took place, led by Archimandrite Nil Sychev, the abbot of the Mother of God-Transfiguration Monastery from Vladimir.

In recognition of the merits, the church founding certificate and an icon of the Mother of God were presented to the benefactor of the church, S.I. Khokhlov.

A special icon of Saint Righteous Anna was written for the church, depicting her holding the infant Mary, the future Mother of God. Do not confuse this image with the icon of the Mother of God with Jesus.

The architecture of the church corresponds to the style of ancient churches of Vladimir-Suzdal Rus of the 13th-15th centuries. It is a single-domed building with a central composition, without a bell tower; the bell is placed in a niche above the entrance. Regular services are held in the church.
