St. John Climacus Church in Warsaw belongs to the Warsaw deanery of the Warsaw-Belarusian diocese of the Polish Orthodox Church. It is located in the Wola district, in the Mlynów microdistrict, at Wolska Street, 138/140.

In 1834, a decision was made to create an Orthodox cemetery next to the Wola fortifications. The first to be buried in this cemetery in 1836 was the Warsaw military governor General Nikita Pankratyev. In 1838, the cemetery came under the jurisdiction of the spiritual administration, and its official opening coincided with the consecration of the Vladimir Church, which was converted from a Catholic church. However, this church proved to be inconvenient: it was cold and damp, lacked beauty, and its altar faced west, which contradicts Orthodox tradition.

On June 28, 1903, the construction of a new church began. The design of the building, intended for 200 people, with a burial vault in the basement and a covered gallery, was developed by diocesan architect Vladimir Pokrovsky in the style of 15th-16th century Rostov. He oversaw the construction, which was carried out by contractor Poplavsky. The cost of the construction was about 40 thousand rubles.

During World War I, in 1915, all Orthodox priests were evacuated from Warsaw along with the retreating Russian troops. The cemetery was subjected to looting for several years. St. John Climacus Church remained closed until the arrival of priest John (Kovalenko), who built a bell tower in 1931.

During the defense of Warsaw in September 1939, the church served as a shelter for the city's residents. During the Warsaw Uprising in 1944, parish archimandrite Theophan (Protasievich), priest Anton Kalyshevich with his family, members of the parish choir, and residents living near the church were killed.

Architect Vladimir Pokrovsky developed the design in the style of 17th-century church architecture of Rostov. The stone walls of the building were faced with white bricks, and a dome rises above the central cross. The building is two stories, with a church on each floor.
